Last month, comrades from Belo Horizonte’s Kasa Invisivel hosted a movie exhibition and debate with a member of Kurdistan Women’s Movement in Abya Yala in a squatted social centre in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Together they watched the documentary “Legerin, in Search of Alina”, (2024) and held a conversation also with NUPIEC (Institute for Kurdish Studies, from Belo Horizonte).
It was the first of a round of talks bringing together grass roots collectives in Brazil, Palestinian and Kurdish solidarity actions.

One of the comrades, Marina Nobel, a long term organiser, movie
maker and member of NUPIEC has a campaign to fund her new short film about Kurdish culture, bringing a comrade from Syria to Brazil:
“The campaign aims to raise funds to continue the production of the short film Azadî, which, in an experimental and poetic way, through the arts—Kurdish dance and songs as forms of resistance—will address Kurdish political prisoners and the processes of cultural assimilation suffered by the population.”
