Kobani prison incidents
In mid September, after and SDF member was killed outside of Qamishlo, protests demanding revenges spread over north east Syria. Several men were arrested by General Security (GS) forces. Arrested Kurdish men were brought to Kobane prison and soon GS stormed the prison aiming to bring them to Aleppo prison. Those in prison resisted the actions of GS and set fire to prevent being transferred to Aleppo prison, resulting in 7 Kurdish men dying in the fire and at least 3 more following heavy injuries from the fire. These incidents created a lot of tensions, with GS reinforcements prevented to enter Kobane and tensions and calls for revenge spreading over social networks.
Mobilizations of Arab tribes
Following the tensions from the incidents of Kobane prison, some Arab tribes circulated videos on social media calling for attacking Kurdish held areas. In some of these videos armed men call for attacks and massacres against kurdish population. In areas like the Ghweiran neighborhood in Hassakah this calls are being coordinated with GS forces that are using this mobilizations to deploy forces loyal to the central government in certain Arab majority regions of north east Syria.
Kurdish language mobilizations
Over this month of September, many educations centers held protests and events calling for defense of Kurdish language after the Damascus administration called for all education to be held in Arabic with few hours of Kurdish language added to the education curriculum. Kurdish education institutions demand that all education can be held in Kurdish as it has been done for over a decade.
Tensions with hezbollah
Forces of GS intensified raids in southern Syria against Hezbollah linked militias and smugglers. Official negotiations between Syrian government and Hezbollah were held in Turkey, with Turkish state officials mediating between both forces aiming to reduce tensions and prevent cross-border operations in Lebanon.
Israel operations in the south
Israel intensified raids and operations around the extended buffer zone in southern Syria. In official declarations Israel declared their intentions to remain in their occupied regions in mount Heremon and other newly occupied regions of southern Syria.
KCK criticis on Rojava
In different interviews with Cemil Bayik and later Bese Hozat, both expressed critical opinions on the ongoing integration process. Both representatives criticized the concessions that the Self Administration made to the Damascus government, having also a critical stance for the newly accepted positions of Mazlum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed in the Syrian State institutions, stating that it was a mistake to accept such positions.
Tensions in Rojhilat
IRGC intensified drone attacks against Kurdish positions in Iraqi Kurdistan as well as on Kurdish camps inside the borders of Iran. PJAK also announced at least two revenge operations targeting IRGC spies who collaborated with the assassination of Kurdish militants and Kurdish welatparez families in Rojhilat.Evaluation
