Some will come and lecture us about unbearable violence, brandishing images of burning trash cans.
Some will call for calm, for order, for the parents of these supposedly irresponsible young people who allegedly do not know what they are doing to step in.
Some will praise the actions of this so-called Republican police force which, once again, is running unchecked under the orders of a government backed into a corner. They beat, tear-gas and maim a generation rising up, all while treating them like children.
Young people have no lessons to learn from them!
Young people are rising up to demand respect, equality and the resources they need to learn. They are rising up to build a future worthy of their dreams. This exemplary generation is rebelling against Parcoursup (Academic portal of the French Ministry of Education) and its unfair system of selection, against racist laws and the normalisation of far-right ideas, against those who silence them, despise them and destroy everything — including the planet.
Thousands arrested, hundreds taken into police custody, dozens of young people brutalised and maimed: this is the State’s response when it is afraid of its youth and of a movement that could grow beyond its control.
The Anarchist Federation wishes to express its solidarity with all those facing repression.
Young people are rising up for their future. Our place is by their side.
If high-school and university students are being accused of violence today, it is nothing more than a smokescreen. The real violence — the only violence — remains, as ever, on the side of governments, capitalist policies and a State that wants to make savings at the expense of our lives and the future of young people.
They are rising up for better living and educational conditions. They are rising up for all of us. They are rising up for their parents. They are rising up for those who work and are exploited. They are rising up against the real and only violence there is: the violence of authority, which is announcing a new €54 billion austerity package, cuts to public services, education, hospitals and social security.
No supreme saviour, no election will save us. Only struggle pays!
Let us organise and take back what belongs to us — starting with our freedom. Wherever we are, let us support this mobilisation. Let us converge from everywhere and shut everything down. Young people are rising up, and with them rises an invincible hope.
Let us shut everything down and bring about a self-managed general strike!
