The death tolls are currently estimated at over 48,400 in Turkey and 7200 in Syria. The following texts offer two different vantage points on the ways that the Turkish and Syrian governments not only failed to protect their subjects but used this catastrophe as an opportunity to consolidate power and target their adversaries via neglect, blockading, and even bombing.

All the people who have made me afraid have been cisgender men. Trans women are not, and never have been, a threat to me.

Today I am ready to die to make the world understand what 41 bis really is. 750 people suffer it without protest, continuously vilified by the mass media. Now it is my turn.

The unspeakable tragedy of the train collision in Tempe unfortunately reminds us, in the worst possible way, of how the state and capital perceive human life: as a means of making profit - AND ONLY AS THAT.

We achieved exactly what we set out to do, in terms of keeping the fash away from the potentially vulnerable front of the hotel, and demonstrated clear solidarity with the refugees inside.

We need to persevere on the side of ordinary people who are resisting the Z-fascist occupiers in Ukraine. At the same time, it is also necessary to stand up to Putin's fifth column and to refuse all kinds of sympathy for aggression, totalitarianism and genocide.

The state, many times, tried to control the situation by reforms through election of its moderate elements and by using general amnesty for activists who have been arrested in the protests but the movement, which seemed to be done, has resurfaced even stronger than the previous one.

The technocrats of the start-up nation, worshippers of the globalised and competitive market, endowed with the empathy of a concrete block, promise us an economic slaughterhouse.

The fascists did not expect us there. With numbers in the low dozens, we confronted them as soon as they arrived, spilling out into the road. The British Blackshirts did not last long in direct contact and were promptly sent off in the ensuing scuffle.

This was one of the most violent and intense far-right gatherings in recent times.

Although the NHS are not (yet) shutting down all care for young trans people, this change will not make things any better or easier for them and may risk making things even worse. Changing from one clinic to two clinics doesn't fix the problems with trans healthcare: treatment will still be kept behind psychological examinations and having to prove to a doctor that you are "trans enough" to get care.
